The Jeffrey Hewer Quartet is a Leeds-based band exploring the limitless soundscapes of contemporary jazz. This incisive young group of musicians from the city’s thriving jazz scene play
mainly original material composed specifically for this line up by guitarist/band leader Jeffrey Hewer.
Their music includes everything from straight ahead burners to more contemplative meditations, with every piece a vehicle for collective and individual improvisations of the band members. Eliot Richards’ tenor saxophone soars over Tom Riviere's foundational bass-walks and the bustling percussion of Steve Hanley; while Jeffrey's lush guitar chording and sinuous lines tie the music and groove together with influences ranging from classic jazz to more modern soundscapes.
